Alpine missed out on points in Australia

The French team failed to get points for one more match, although in Australia it came quite close.

THAT Alpine F1may not be rated so far this season Formula 1, but at the Australian Grand Prix he had the chance to do so with Esteban Ocon. The French driver pitted on lap 9 as he battled with the two Haas drivers who finished in the top ten, as well as Williams’ Alex Albon, who finished 11th. Unfortunately for him, Ocon had to pit again just 7 laps later when his car’s brakes overheated from a helmet gel that had stuck to the (brake) air intake. The Alpine driver was unable to recover from this unforeseen pit stop, finishing behind the two Saubers in 16th place.

Specifically, Okon said: “Before the jelly stuck to my brake, we were ‘fighting’ with Kevin, Alex and I were ahead of Nico. So it was likely that we would get points. From 9th to 11th I could finish. Unfortunately, we will never get the result know, but it was an interesting race. I’m happy with how it went and with the race pace we had, we were able to compete with the rest.”

The next Formula 1 race is the Japanese Grand Prix (5-7 April) and Alpine still has a long way to go to reach a competitive level.
