Still turns everything into gold. His championship memorabilia went for a record sum

Even though more than 20 years have passed since Jordan retired, he remains King Midas, who turns everything he touches (or wears) into gold. It’s mainly about the pieces of his wardrobe related to the NBA Finals.

One of them is a set of shoes that the basketball player wore in each final not only did he win six titles, but he was also voted the best player (MVP) six times.

These were: Air Jordan VI (1991), Air Jordan VII (1992), Air Jordan VIII (1993), Air Jordan XI (1996), Air Jordan XII (1997) and Air Jordan XIV (1998). Their value at auction reached $8,032,800, which, according to the Sotheby’s auction house, is a record for shoes on display.

When it comes to Jordan souvenirs, this collection ranks second in terms of price. Only the shirt the player wore in the first match of the 1998 final was more expensive. It cost $10.1 million.

NBA. Michael Jordan is a Chicago Bulls legend

The pair of shoes Jordan wore in the second leg of the 1998 finals cost $2.2 million. This is a record for a pair of shoes.

The high price of the collection of shoes from the six finals could also be due to the fact that the basketball player signed several of them: Air Jordan VI, VIII, XI and XII.

Jordan was also the NBA’s leading scorer 10 times and was selected to the All-Star Game 14 times. He was entered into the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Apart from playing for the Bullshe also played for the Washington Wizards in 2001-03, and from 2006 to 2023 he was one of the owners of the Charlotte Hornets club.
