King Charles’ first public appearance since his cancer diagnosis

King Charles attended the Easter service.

THAT King Charles of Great Britain attended the annual Easter service today in his first public appearance at an event since being diagnosed with cancer in February.

Charles, 75, and his wife, Queen Camilla, drove to St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, the burial place of his mother, Queen Elizabeth, to attend the Easter service.

Charles has postponed all previous public engagements since Buckingham Palace announced he was to undergo treatment for an unspecified form of cancer, which was discovered after tests as part of an operation he underwent in January for an enlarged prostate.

While Charles attended today’s service, his son William and his family did not.

William’s wife Kate announced earlier this month that she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy after being diagnosed with cancer following abdominal surgery in January.

Charles has maintained some of his public duties, such as receiving foreign dignitaries or regular meetings with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Last week, King Charles did not attend the Maundy Thursday service, but shared a recorded message during the service expressing his regret at not being able to attend and wishing the public a happy Easter.
