The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulidis, attended the anniversary event of Anorthosis.

THAT Correction broadcast the speech of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis at the anniversary event organized by the Famagusta team.

Highlights from the speech:

“Anorthosians own a large cadre of EOKA warriors and rightly hold the title of the most historic union in our homeland. EOKA proves that united we can succeed, our country has been under Turkish rule for half a century and if we truly want to honor the battles, we must maintain unity and solidarity to free our country. After all, it is also our sacred duty. There is no one who does not recognize the historicity of Anorthosis, we are proud of its action.

With the chairman of KOM, we actually want to support the stadium, because I want to be right, we want to support the refugee stadiums. Our presence here tonight means a lot, we honor the struggles of our ancestors. As a government and state that honors the example of our warriors, we will do our part for the liberation of our country, we are responsible and committed. We move forward with planning, firm steps and political tenacity to achieve our goals.

We have an obligation and a duty to talk to our children and the new generation about EOKA’s struggles and sacrifices so that our Cyprus exists today. We must learn our history, the viability of any solution will not stop and goes through the respect of our historical identity”
