A 30-year-old man killed his partner for the sake of his non-existent “mistress” – who turned out to be a con artist in Ivory Coast.

A 30-year-old admitted it he killed his partner in late January for having an affair with a woman he had met online – who turned out not to exist, made up fantasy by fraudsters from the Ivory Coastas reported today by the judicial authorities in France.

On January 28, the body of the woman, who was born in 1995, was found inside her home in Besan of northern France. It was her partner who alerted the authorities and initially said he found her dead on his way back from shopping at the bakery. At the same time, he found out that the man was holding one “long distance relationship” with a woman whose “real identity” he was unaware of. According to the newspaper Le Parisien, which disclosed the case, this person maintained a page on Facebook under the name “Beatrice Leroux, merchant (sic) in Brest”.

The “mistress” did not exist: she had been “created” by a fraudster who even managed to extract the sum of 2,200 euros from the man. According to the police investigation, this fraudster is in the Ivory Coast.

The suspect appeared before a detective today and admitted to murdering his partner in the hope that it would pave the way for him to have a relationship with the non-existent woman “Beatrice.”
