It seems somewhat of an oxymoron what happened in the match between Aris and Panathinaikos in “Kl. Vikelidis”, as it was the first time, in a derby, that the “yellows” reached the number of 22 final attempts and at the same time the only time that they did not scored in a match with special conditions at home.

For the avoidance of doubt, there is of course a long distance between a final effort and an expected goal. Each situation is also assessed by many factors and mainly by the conditions of an execution and accordingly… it is archived. If these are characterized as “unique”, they are classified in the expected target category. The same does not apply to a shot attempted from the height of the large area and with a pile directly in front of the goal.

But against Panathinaikos, Aris “managed” to combine two unique records. The positive was the number of final attempts (22) in a round of special conditions in “Kl. Vikelidis”, as he did not do more in any of the previous ones. The other and probably more impressive thing is that this number of his last attempts did not last enough for him to do something he is used to. To score.

For example, the “yellows” in the match of regular duration had found a goal – with them Lorraine Moron and Jonathan Menendez – with nine finals, seven of which were within the region. And in the match against PAOK they also scored twice, counting 14 finals (four within the region) and against Olympiakos – in their worst, creative game, they were limited to four finals but still found goals. Their most successful game was against AEK with three goals in six last attempts, five of which were inside the area.

Back in yesterday’s (7/4) match, out of a total of 22 final attempts, the three were made inside the area, with the two by Loren Moron in the first half being the most significant, but also that of Karim Ansarifard shortly before the end of the normal duration of the match. And then for the first time Aris was left “unbeaten” in a derby at “Kl. Vikelidis”, and while in the previous four he had scored a total of eight goals.
